Game 65 Scores

Oh, how we are coming down to the wire.
The trenches are full of mud, blood, sweat and soon to be tears.
With 2 games left in the AHL Regular Season, every point is becoming ever so more important as teams are still jockeying for position.
Lets get to the scores so that we can start untangling this mess!!

Scheifele 1G 3A
Game 1 on the night saw two of the top dogs going toe to toe. On the line was the Dutchies’ President’s Trophy clinch vs. the Foundation’s hopes for finishing second. What a slug fest it certainly was as this battle of the Titans didn’t disappoint. Trying to keep up with Crosby’s 1 G 3a, Rakell and Petterson combined, successfully matched and even surpassed Sid’s output. This one came down to the wire with a 3.5 to 3.5 tie, only to be finished by Sid in OT. The Dutchies clinch their second President’s Trophy, but were seen kissing it post game. Will the curse of touching the trophy kick in? Time shall tell!
The second game of the evening was just as entertaining with two of the tied 8th place combatants in the Witch Doctors and Wai’s Guys facing off in the octagon. Both teams had multiple point contributions from more than one player however, unfortunately for Wai, he did not have any Penguins in his lineup to rub off on their huge scoring night. Luckily, the Doctors had 2 Penguins who both put up stellar performances in Letang and Rust who combined for a mighty 4 score. This was enough to get the Doctors the victory 5 to 3.5. Wai will have to wait to see the other scores as his fate is slowly being placed in others’ hands.
Hanging on to a 2 point lead for 6th place coming into this game, the VBees come in hopeful against a recently surging Avs team. The Bombers get scoring from a few players, but the Avs step in and tell the fleeting Bombers to ‘hold my beer’. This one was a slaughter out of the gate. The Avs threw a tonne of haymakers with several multi-point performances from their players. Before he has the chance to realize the importance of the game, the Bombers are knocked out by the high boy of the night by a score of 6.5 to 1.
On a winning streak and thus a surge in the standings, the Kickass go into their match with utmost confidence against the Sting. Confident that the results of this game would not affect his standings position after having learned about the Avs’ results, the Kickass take their foot off the gas and get surprised by a Sting team still looking to cement their spot in the AHL playoffs. Lead by their long time captain Scheifele who put up a solid 2G 1A, the Sting emerge victorious 4.5 to 2. Will this be the beginning of a downward trend for the Kickass? One can only hope!
Oles, fresh off missing another lineup in the previous game, comes into this game loosey goosey given he’s still eliminated from this year’s playoffs. The Posse however, are still in the hunt for the President’s trophy, or at a very minimum looking to capitalize off the Foundation’s loss to cement 2nd place. On the back of the mighty Kuchie’s mighty 2.5 score, the Posse easily beat their way to victory in this one. Posse beat the Oles 5 to 3.5.
In the last game of the evening, the Flash default to victory even though they put up a score of negative 0.5. That’s back to back freebies for the Flash who look to have the lucky winds at their back propelling them into the playoffs. The Last game of the season will certainly tell the tale.
The playoff picture is coming into closer focus. One game left. Who will show up and who will fold like a cheap suit?? Stay tuned…..
