Quarter Final Game 3 Empty Quarter Final Game 3

Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:09 am
Holy scoring Batman!

Things are getting real as this Tuesday evening played host to Game 3 of these fantastic AHL Quarter Finals!

This game was a tale of feast or famine. If you scored, chances are you scored large. If your team wasn’t hot, you likely lost (as is most often not the case lol).

So far, Game 3 sees the biggest score in these 2023 playoffs. Let’s get to it.

3 Stars:

Makar 1G 3A
Nichushkin 1G 3A
Kucherov 2G 1A

1 Oles Vs. 8 Kickass

Facing being pushed to the brink of elimination, this was almost a must-win for the Kickass. It’s not like he hasn’t been putting up some respectable scores (even though he doesn’t have many respectable players ha ha ha), it’s just that he’s facing the President’s Trophy winning Oles. Kickass got the game started with a respectable 2 goals against from their goaltenders. They even got contributions from their young studs. Normally, these would be good things. Not against the Oles though. Nope. The Oles goalies post a solid 0 and although he didn’t receive contributions from his ‘young’ guns, his actual guns did show up. Kickass’ respectable 3 score paled in comparison to Ole’s monstrous 6.5er. Kickass was seen leaving the arena with all his bags packed. Will he be getting on the plane? We’ll know next game…

Oles leads series 3-0

2 Foundation Vs. 7 Flash

This game 3 was a shootout of epic proportions. The game started out extremely tight with both teams scoring back and forth. Flash received a very respectable 2.5 from his star Russian and a zero from his goaltending team to send him on his way. Against almost any other team tonight, the Flash’s total of 5.5 would’ve been a winner. Unfortunately for the Flash though, the Foundation’s team decided to flex their pedigree and show why they’re a force to be reckoned with. Although Carolina goalies posted a -1.5, this wasn’t enough to prevent the onslaught. Foundation gets 4 from their Col players and 3.5 from the Tampa crew. Just when you thought Ole’s 6.5 was impressive, the Foundation pull out a massive 10er. The Flash join the Kickass on the brink here, but as the Leafs have so valiantly proven the last 2 years, the series isn’t over until you win game 4.

Foundation leads series 3-0

3 Hackers Vs. 6 Doctors

After taking game 2 to level the series, the Doctors look like they’re rounding into form and might have a shot to pull off some sort of an upset…That is, until game 3 hits and both the Doctors and Hackers play out their game. As this one went on, the crowd left in clusters. By the beginning of the third period, only a thousand people remained in the stadium; mostly the drunks who were to hammered to stumble out of the rink. When the final buzzer sounded, the Doctors only had a single goal from one player while the Hackers had goals from 2 skaters. Both teams ended regulation with a laughable score of wait for it….0!!!!! The Tie Breaker in this one goes to the Hackers. Like I mentioned before, they had contributions from 2 players while the Doctors had contributions from only one. Hackers regain the lead in the series.

Hackers leads series 2-1

4 Dutchies Vs. 5 Sting

In the only series where the underdog has the lead, game 3 was a statement game for the Dutchies. They were either going to fold like a cheap suit, or fight with the Oranjemen warrior blood coursing through their veins. The first statement the Dutchies made was temping Colorado’s shut-out obtaining goalies. Not to be outdone, Sting’s Lightning only posted a -1. Neither teams scored very much and the game didn’t live up to the high bar set by the first two games, but the Dutchies weren’t there to win a popularity contest. Dutchies leverage the -1 from Sting’s goalies to squeak out the win 3 to 2. The Dutchies are still alive!!!

Sting leads series 2-1
